Honduran general election, 1916

General elections were held in Honduras in October 1916.〔Nohlen, D (2005) ''Elections in the Americas: A data handbook, Volume I'', p407 ISBN 978-0-19-928357-6〕 Francisco Bertrand of the Nationalist Party was the only candidate in the presidential election, and was elected unopposed.〔Nohlen, p413〕 As the incumbent, Bertrand had been constitutionally barred from contesting the elections, but had avoided the rule by resigning in favour of the his vice president three months before the election.〔Wright, TP (1960) "Honduras: a case study of United States support of free elections in Central America" ''Hispanic American Historical Review'' 40, 2:212-223, pp 214〕
